Query on Pradhanmantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana

The Pradhanmantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) is a scheme launched by the Indian government to provide financial assistance to small and marginal farmers across the country. The scheme was launched in February 2019, with the aim to support farmers with an annual income of up to Rs. 1,00,000 per year.

Under the PM-KISAN scheme, eligible farmers receive Rs. 6,000 per year in three equal instalments of Rs. 2,000 each. The first instalment is paid between April and June, the second instalment between July and September, and the third instalment between October and December.

In order to be eligible for the scheme, farmers must be the owner of cultivable land of up to two hectares. The scheme also covers other categories of beneficiaries such as landless agricultural labourers, tenant farmers, and sharecroppers.

To apply for PM-KISAN, farmers can visit the official website of the scheme or visit their nearest common service center (CSC). The application process is simple and farmers need to provide basic details like their name, Aadhaar number, and bank account details.

Since the launch of the scheme, over 11 crore farmers have been enrolled and more than Rs. 1,10,000 crore has been disbursed to farmers across the country as of March 2021. The scheme has been widely appreciated by farmers and has helped to improve their financial condition.

However, there have also been some challenges in the implementation of the scheme. One of the biggest concerns has been the exclusion of many eligible farmers due to issues with Aadhaar verification, incorrect bank details, and other technical glitches. In addition, many farmers have reported delays or non-payment of instalments, which has caused hardship to them.

Despite these challenges, PM-KISAN is a landmark initiative that has helped to provide much-needed financial support to small and marginal farmers in India. With the growing challenges faced by Indian agriculture, schemes like PM-KISAN are crucial to ensure the welfare and livelihood of farmers in the country.
