Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) is a scheme launched by the Government of India in February 2019. This scheme provides income support to small and marginal farmers in the form of direct cash transfers. Under this scheme, farmers would get Rs 6,000 per annum in three installments of Rs 2,000 each. The money would be directly transferred to the bank accounts of eligible farmers. The PM-KISAN scheme is expected to benefit around 14 crore farmers across the country. The total expenditure for the scheme is estimated to be around Rs 75,000 crore per annum. The scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, on February 24, 2019.
