Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) is a government-run scheme launched by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare in India. The scheme aims to provide financial support to farmers across the country by transferring Rs. 6,000 annually to their bank accounts.

The scheme was launched on 24 February 2019 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the intent to supplement farmers’ income and improve their living conditions. The scheme targets small and marginal farmers who own up to two hectares of land and aims to provide them with financial security.

Under the PM-KISAN scheme, the government disburses the money in three equal installments every year. The scheme requires farmers to provide their Aadhaar card or a similar identification document, along with their bank account details, to enroll in the scheme. The government is providing financial assistance to over 10 crore farmers across India under this scheme.

The PM-KISAN scheme has multiple beneficiaries in the farming community. Firstly, it benefits small and marginal farmers who lack the finances to invest in their farms, especially during unproductive years. Secondly, the scheme assures financial security to farmers who usually get meager returns on their crops due to small landholdings. Lastly, this scheme is the senior-most priority of the Indian Government towards the welfare of farmers.

Farmers in India face numerous challenges, including droughts, floods, and falling crop prices. This PM-KISAN scheme provides them with the much-needed financial assistance to tackle these issues. Over the past two years, more and more farmers have been enrolling and taking advantage of this scheme.

Moreover, the government has also started to promote the use of technology for agriculture and has developed the PM-KISAN portal and PM-KISAN mobile application, making it easier for farmers to enroll and receive their payments. The scheme has also led to the creation of rural jobs and a boost in the economy.

In conclusion, the PM-KISAN scheme is a much-needed initiative launched by the Indian Government. It aims to provide financial relief to small and marginal farmers, who form the backbone of the Indian agricultural sector. The scheme brings the promise of economic prosperity for these farmers and their families, and it holds the potential to revolutionize the Indian farming community.
