Pm Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana

The government of India launched the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, also known as PM Kisan, to provide financial assistance to farmers across the country. The scheme aims to help farmers with their agricultural needs and support them in their efforts to increase their income.

Under the PM Kisan scheme, eligible farmers receive an income support of Rs 6,000 per year. The amount is paid in three instalments of Rs 2,000 each, directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. The scheme, which commenced on 1st December 2018, is credited with disbursing Rs 72,000 crore to more than 9.5 crore farmers across India.

The scheme is expected to benefit small and marginal farmers who are struggling to make ends meet due to low yields and volatile markets. It will help them with their investment in inputs like seeds, fertilizers, labour, etc.

To be eligible for the scheme, farmers must have cultivated land up to 2 hectares, and their names should appear in the land records. The scheme is open for all farmers across India, and they can register for the scheme by visiting their nearest Common Service Centre (CSC), or by contacting the Block Agriculture Officer (BDO) at their respective block offices.

The PM Kisan scheme has also been instrumental in strengthening the agricultural sector’s infrastructure by encouraging farmers to adopt modern techniques and technologies. It has helped in improving the productivity of crops and increasing yields, thereby ensuring food security in the country.

The government has also made provisions to ensure that the benefits of the PM Kisan scheme reach only the eligible farmers. The scheme is linked with the Aadhaar system, enabling the government to authenticate farmers’ identity before transferring the funds directly into their bank accounts.

In conclusion, the PM Kisan is an ambitious scheme that aims to address the income-related challenges of small and marginal farmers in India. By providing financial assistance to farmers, the scheme aims to empower them with the resources they need to farm productively and efficiently. The scheme has become a lifeline for farmers, ensuring that the benefits reach them directly, without any middlemen intervention. The PM Kisan is instrumental in transforming the agricultural sector in India, which, in turn, will help the country build a robust economy and achieve inclusive growth.
