Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) is an initiative launched by the Government of India in 2019 to provide financial assistance to farmers across the country. Under this scheme, small and marginal farmers who have less than two hectares of landholding are eligible to receive Rs. 6,000 per year in three equal installments of Rs. 2,000 each.
The first installment of PM-KISAN is credited from April 1 to July 31, the second from August 1 to November 30, and the third from December 1 to March 31. The government aims to provide financial support to over 14 crore farmers through this scheme, which is expected to contribute to their income and standard of living.
To receive the benefits of PM-KISAN, farmers need to register themselves under the scheme. The registration process can be completed both online and offline. The online process involves registering at the official PM-KISAN website, whereas the offline process involves visiting the nearest Common Service Center (CSC), Agriculture Department, or Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK).
Once the registration is complete, farmers receive a unique PM-KISAN ID and are eligible to receive the installment. The government has also provided the option of self-registration for farmers who have not yet registered under the scheme.
Apart from financial assistance, PM-KISAN also aims to provide various other benefits to farmers. It includes the provision of e-NAM (National Agricultural Market) to farmers, crop insurance, and Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) to help farmers avail of bank loans easily.
In conclusion, the PM-KISAN scheme aims to provide financial assistance to farmers across the country and improve their standard of living. With the provision of three equal installments per year, the scheme ensures that farmers have a steady source of income. The government has also provided the option of self-registration, making it easier for farmers to enrol in the scheme. The additional benefits of PM-KISAN, such as e-NAM, crop insurance, and KCC, further contribute to the welfare of farmers in the country.
