Information regarding the PM-Kissan Samman Nidhi Yojana

As part of its commitment to the welfare of farmers across the country, the Government of India launched the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-Kisan) in 2019. Announced during the interim budget of that year, this scheme aims to provide financial support to small and marginal farmers across the country.

Under the PM-Kisan scheme, eligible farmers receive a direct transfer of INR 6,000 per year, in three equal instalments of INR 2,000 each. The funds are deposited directly into the beneficiary’s bank account, thereby ensuring transparency and eliminating intermediaries.

To be eligible for the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, the farmer should:

1. Possess cultivable land owned or leased in his/her name
2. Have a valid Aadhaar number
3. Be a citizen of India

The scheme is aimed at providing financial support to the farmers who are at the bottom of the agricultural economy and are unable to access credit or other support. It is estimated that around 145 million farmers across the country would benefit from this scheme.

The PM-Kisan scheme has been described as a game-changer in the field of agriculture by experts. For a long time, small and marginal farmers across India have been facing numerous challenges that have prevented them from accessing credit, new technologies, and other support that are essential for the sustainable growth of their farm operations.

The PM-Kisan scheme is expected to provide farmers with a regular source of income, which can be used to purchase inputs like seeds, fertilizers, and other agricultural products, and invest in other areas like education and healthcare.

In conclusion, the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is an ambitious scheme that aims to transform the lives of small and marginal farmers across India. It is expected to provide a range of benefits to farmers at the bottom of the agricultural economy, including financial support, access to credit, and better livelihood opportunities. The scheme is a crucial step towards ensuring the sustainable growth of agriculture in India and improving the lives of farmers who have been marginalized for far too long.
