Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) is a scheme launched by the Government of India in 2019 to provide income support to farmers. The aim of the scheme is to ensure a minimum income to farmers and to bolster the agricultural sector in the country. In this article, we will discuss everything you need to know about the PM-KISAN scheme.
Under the PM-KISAN scheme, farmers receive Rs. 6,000 per year in three equal instalments of Rs. 2,000 each. The money is transferred directly to the farmer’s bank account. This scheme covers all the small and marginal farmers in the country with cultivable land up to 2 hectares.
The scheme has several objectives, such as providing direct income support to farmers, enabling farmers to cope with financial distress and meet their financial requirements, and supporting farmers in cultivating their land and selling their produce. The scheme does not cover farmers who are employed in government jobs or retired government employees or pensioners.
In order to be eligible for the scheme, farmers must possess the following documents:
1. Aadhaar card
2. Bank account number
3. Landholding documents
4. Mobile number
5. Farmers must also belong to one of the following categories: small and marginal farmers, tenant farmers, sharecroppers, farmers who cultivate their own land but have less than 2 hectares of land.
In order to apply for the PM-KISAN scheme, farmers can visit the official website of the scheme and register by providing the necessary details and submitting the required documents.
The scheme has been implemented with the help of the State Governments and the Union Territories government. The government has allocated a sum of Rs. 75,000 crore for the implementation of the scheme, which will benefit over 14.5 crore farmers in the country.
The PM-KISAN scheme is a much-needed initiative to support the agricultural sector in India. By providing direct income support to farmers, the government aims to uplift farmers from poverty and bring prosperity to their lives. The scheme has already shown positive results in enhancing farmers’ income and boosting rural employment. It is expected to provide significant relief to farmers who have been struggling with issues such as low income and debt.
