Information about yield of Pusa basmati 1692 paddy variety

As one of the most popular varieties of basmati rice, Pusa Basmati 1692 has been widely used in different parts of the world due to its unique aromas and flavors.

Pusa Basmati 1692 was developed in India by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI). The variety is a hybrid of two types of rice plants, i.e., Pusa Basmati 1 and Pusa 1460. It was released to farmers in 1997, and since then, it has been planted and harvested in different states of India and other countries.

One of the key features of Pusa Basmati 1692 is its high yield. According to multiple studies, the variety can yield up to 5–6 tons of paddy per hectare under optimal conditions. This high yield makes it an attractive choice for farmers who want to maximize their profits.

Another advantage of Pusa Basmati 1692 is its early maturation. The variety can be harvested within 120–125 days of sowing, which is about two weeks earlier than other basmati varieties. The early maturation raises the likelihood of avoiding damage to the crop from unfavorable weather conditions such as heavy rainfall and winds.

Apart from its high yield and early maturation, Pusa Basmati 1692 also boasts excellent grain quality. The rice grains are long, slender, and aromatic, with a mild but distinctive flavor. The characteristic aroma and flavor of the rice are due to the presence of a chemical compound called 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline.

In terms of cultivation, Pusa Basmati 1692 is moderately tolerant to pests and diseases, making it relatively easy to grow. It requires moderate to heavy irrigation, depending on the soil type and climate in the region. The ideal temperature range for the variety is 25-30°C, which is typical of most basmati varieties.

In conclusion, Pusa Basmati 1692 is a high-yielding variety of basmati rice that is prized for its early maturation, excellent grain quality, and distinctive aroma and flavor. It is relatively easy to grow and has moderate tolerance to pests and diseases, making it a popular choice for farmers in different parts of the world.
