As the backbone of the Indian economy, farmers contribute significantly to the country’s development. Despite their contributions, they have struggled to make ends meet due to various challenges, including low yields, inadequate income, and insufficient support. To address these challenges, the Indian government has rolled out the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna.

The Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna is a scheme that provides financial support to farmers across India. The scheme was announced in the interim budget in 2019, and its primary aim is to ensure that small farmers receive adequate income support. The scheme was launched in February 2019, and it will continue until 2022.

Under the scheme, the government provides INR 6,000 annually to every small farmer. Small farmers are defined as those who own less than two hectares of land. The money is paid in three installments of INR 2,000 each, directly into the farmers’ bank accounts. The first installment is paid between December and March, the second between April and July, and the third between August and November.

To avail of the scheme, farmers must provide their Aadhaar card and their bank account details. The scheme aims to benefit around 12 crore farmers across India. The cost of the scheme is estimated to be around INR 75,000 crore annually.

Apart from providing financial assistance to farmers, the scheme also aims to make the Indian agricultural sector more efficient and productive. In this regard, the government has launched various initiatives under the scheme. For instance, there is a special focus on soil health cards to ensure that farmers use the right fertilizers and inputs for their specific crops.

The scheme has been widely appreciated, and it has benefited many farmers. It has provided much-needed relief for small farmers, who often struggle to sustain themselves due to poor yields and lack of support. By providing them with annual financial assistance, the scheme has improved their standard of living and given them a sense of security.

In conclusion, the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna is an important scheme for farmers in India. It provides them with the much-needed financial support and contributes to the overall development of the agricultural sector. With the scheme, the government aims to address various challenges faced by farmers and make their lives more comfortable. It is a step towards creating a more equitable and inclusive economy for all.
