PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KSNY) is a government scheme that aims to provide financial assistance to the farmers of India. This scheme was launched in February 2019 by the Government of India with the objective of helping farmers meet their financial needs and improve their incomes.
Under PM-KSNY, farmers who own up to two hectares of land are eligible to receive a financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per year, paid directly into their bank accounts in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 each. This financial assistance is aimed at helping the farmers with the cost of cultivation, purchase of seeds, fertilisers, etc.
The scheme benefits over 12 crore farmers across the country, making it one of the largest schemes implemented for farmers. The government has allocated Rs 75,000 crore for the scheme in the Union Budget 2021-22.
To apply for the scheme, farmers need to visit their nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) and submit their land papers along with other necessary documents. The CSC will verify the documents and submit the application to the local agriculture office for further processing.
PM-KSNY has proven to be a significant boon for farmers across India, providing financial stability and helping them increase their income. The scheme has also resulted in the inclusion of many small and marginal farmers, who were previously left out of the government’s welfare schemes.
Overall, PM-KSNY is a commendable initiative taken by the Government of India to provide financial assistance to farmers, allowing them to meet their basic needs and improve their standard of living.
