PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is an initiative taken by the government of India to provide financial assistance to farmers across the country. The scheme provides an income support of Rs. 6,000 per year to small and marginal farmers who own cultivable land. The scheme was launched in 2019 and has been implemented across the country in a phased manner.
Under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, farmers receive direct cash transfers in their bank accounts. The scheme is aimed at improving the financial stability of farmers and reducing their dependence on moneylenders. The scheme is expected to benefit around 12 crore farmers across the country.
Small and marginal farmers who own less than two hectares of cultivable land are eligible for the scheme. The scheme provides financial assistance of Rs. 6,000 per year, which is distributed in three installments of Rs. 2,000 each. The first installment is credited to the farmers’ account in April-June, the second installment is credited in July-September, and the third installment is credited in October-December.
To apply for the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, farmers need to visit the official website of the scheme. They need to fill in their personal details, bank account details, and land ownership details. After submitting the application, the government verifies the eligibility of the applicant and if found eligible, the cash assistance is transferred directly to the farmer’s bank account.
The government has allocated a budget of Rs. 75,000 crore for the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana for the financial year 2021-22. The government has also extended the scheme to farmers who are not eligible for the scheme earlier, such as sharecroppers and farmers who lease the land.
