Beneficiary Status of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) is a government scheme that was launched in February 2019 with the aim of providing financial assistance to small and marginal farmers in India. Under this scheme, eligible farmers receive a direct income support of Rs. 6,000 per year in three equal installments of Rs. 2,000 each.

One of the key aspects of PM-KISAN is the beneficiary status, which determines who is eligible to receive the financial assistance. In order to qualify for the scheme, farmers must meet certain criteria set by the government. These criteria include:

1. Ownership of land: Only small and marginal farmers who own less than 2 hectares of cultivable land are eligible for PM-KISAN. Farmers who own more than 2 hectares of land are not eligible for the scheme.

2. Income criteria: The scheme is targeted at farmers with low income levels. As such, beneficiaries must fall below a certain income threshold in order to qualify for the financial assistance.

3. Aadhaar card: In order to receive the benefits of PM-KISAN, farmers are required to have a valid Aadhaar card. The Aadhaar card serves as a primary identification document for beneficiaries and helps in preventing duplication and leakage in the scheme.

4. Benefit transfer mechanism: The financial assistance under PM-KISAN is transferred directly to the bank accounts of eligible farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). This ensures transparency and eliminates the possibility of intermediaries siphoning off the funds meant for the beneficiaries.

5. Registration process: To become a beneficiary of PM-KISAN, farmers need to register themselves with the scheme through the designated online portal or at the nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) in their area. Once registered, farmers can track the status of their applications and payments online.

Overall, the beneficiary status of PM-KISAN plays a crucial role in ensuring that the financial assistance reaches the intended recipients – small and marginal farmers who are in need of support. By targeting these farmers and providing them with direct income support, the government aims to improve their livelihoods, increase their purchasing power, and boost agricultural productivity in the country.
