Beneficiary status of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana

PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is a scheme launched by the Government of India to support the farmers of the country. The scheme provides an income support of Rs. 6,000 per year to small and marginal farmers. The scheme is aimed at providing direct benefit transfer (DBT) to farmers and thus reducing poverty among them.

The scheme was launched in February 2019 and has been implemented in phases. The first phase of the scheme started in February 2019 and covered over 1.01 crore farmers. The second phase started in April 2019 and covered over 3.11 crore farmers. The third phase started in August 2019 and covered over 2.75 crore farmers. The fourth and fifth phases were announced in 2020 and covered over 2.46 crore and 1.58 crore farmers respectively.

To be eligible for the scheme, farmers must have a cultivable landholding of up to 2 hectares. The scheme is administered by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and the money is transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.

The scheme has been successful in providing financial assistance to small and marginal farmers across the country. As of June 2021, over 11.57 crore farmers have benefited from the scheme and over Rs. 1,15,722.99 crore has been disbursed. The scheme has helped improve the financial condition of farmers and has also helped to boost agricultural production in the country.

In addition to the income support, the scheme also provides for other benefits such as the establishment of seed banks, soil health cards, and village storage structures. The scheme is expected to benefit over 14 crore farmers across the country.
