A 5-day training program on ‘Sitaphal Production and Processing’ concluded on 23 September 2023 under the joint aegis of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of the Government of India and the College of Dairy and Food Technology. In this 5-day training program, 21 participants improved their entrepreneurship skills in the experiential training units of the university. Dr. Loke Gupta, Dean of the College, said that along with employment oriented education, the College provides technical skills from time to time to the entrepreneurs regarding milk and food processing and innovative milk and food products. Dr. Gupta told that in this sequence, a 5-day training program on ‘Sitaphal Production and Processing’ was commissioned by the University. The main objective of this training program is experimental training of farmers and entrepreneurs. The aim was to develop one’s own skills. Also, complete technical assistance was provided for entrepreneurship development. The training program was formally inaugurated by Dr. Ajit Kumar, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Maharana Pratap University of Agricultural Technology, Karnataka and Miss India Class 2023 Ms. Nanvini Gupta. Skill Development Program Coordinator Dr. Gangakata Wadhawan said that in February this year, the University had commissioned a seven-day entrepreneurship skill development program sponsored by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India. 23 advanced participants had participated in that program. It is a matter of immense pride for the university that many of those graduates have started their own ventures and many are on the verge of doing so. Dr. Wadhawan said that the transformation of the participants of that seven-day entrepreneurship skill development program into entrepreneurs is a successful implementation of the common objective of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and the University. This is the reason why the university has been given the important responsibility of commissioning 5 entrepreneurship skill development programmes. The University has started a new campaign by initially commissioning Entrepreneurship Skill Development Program on Sitaphal Processing. From the very first day of the program, theoretical knowledge as well as practical knowledge was imparted to the participants. For this, the university invited various national level experts and provided expert guidance to the participants.
It is noteworthy that some of the participants of this skill development program have already set up a Sitaphal processing enterprise and they had come here with the aim of acquiring knowledge from the subject experts to solve the problems that come along with skill development and knowledge upgradation. The participants were told about the advantages and disadvantages of both the methods by pulping the pulp of custard apple by hand and by machine. Sitaphal ice cream is a popular and popular product on which a lot of work has been done but its price is still high. In this programme, along with reducing the cost of Sitaphal ice cream, ways to increase its shelf life were also explained. In this skill development programme, a new product Sitaphal ki Rabat was also developed which was being developed in the college for a long time. Research was going on. Shri Chokharam of Gazala Industry Center provided detailed information about various loan schemes of the Central and State Government and also told about the process of application on the online portal of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and also informed about the progress made by the participants in small scale industries.
