The Joint Directorate of the Centre for Animal Disease Research and Diagnosis (CADRAD),
ICAR–Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Izatnagar, has inaugurated a 10-day
hands-on training programme titled “Advances in Serological and Molecular
Techniques for Diagnosis of Livestock and Poultry Diseases.” The programme is being
conducted from 13th to 22nd December 2025.
The training programme aims to strengthen the technical capacity of veterinary professionals
by equipping them with the latest advancements in diagnostic tools and technologies. With
animal diseases continuing to pose major challenges to livestock productivity and public
health, the programme focuses on building robust diagnostic capabilities at the field level.
During the 10-day course, participants will gain hands-on experience in modern serological
assays, advanced molecular techniques such as PCR-based diagnostics, and innovative
approaches for rapid and accurate disease detection. The sessions will include a blend of
scientific lectures, interactive discussions, live demonstrations, and practical laboratory
exercises delivered by senior scientists, subject experts, and technical specialists of
CADRAD.
A total of 15 officials from the State Animal Husbandry Departments of Uttar Pradesh and
Uttarakhand have enrolled for the programme. Their participation highlights the increasing
emphasis placed by state governments on strengthening disease surveillance systems and
adopting cutting-edge diagnostic technologies for early detection and timely intervention
against emerging and re-emerging livestock and poultry diseases.
Addressing the participants at the inaugural session, Joint Director, CADRAD emphasised
the importance of continuous skill upgradation to keep pace with rapid technological
advancements in veterinary diagnostics. She also underscored CADRAD’s pivotal role as a
national reference centre supporting disease investigation, laboratory diagnosis, and
epidemiological surveillance across the country.
This initiative reflects CADRAD’s broader commitment to strengthening the nation’s animal
health infrastructure, promoting scientific excellence, and supporting state and national
efforts toward ensuring livestock health, productivity, and biosecurity. By empowering
veterinary personnel with advanced diagnostic competencies, the programme is expected to
significantly enhance the effectiveness of disease control and prevention strategies in the
region.
