Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) is a scheme launched by the Government of India on February 24, 2019, to provide financial assistance to the small and marginal farmers across the country. Under this scheme, eligible farmers receive Rs. 6,000 annually in three equal installments directly transferred to their bank accounts.
The main objective of PM-KISAN Yojana is to provide financial support to farmers to assist them in the purchase of seeds, fertilizers, and other inputs to ensure proper crop health and prepare farms for the subsequent season.
The scheme also aims to ensure a steady source of income to the farmers and prevent their dependence on moneylenders. It also addresses the grave issue of the declining average income in the agricultural sector.
Eligibility for the scheme includes all farmers who hold cultivable land up to two hectares in size. The scheme excludes farmers who are currently holding any government jobs or are retired government employees.
Registration for PM-KISAN Yojana can be done through the Common Service Centre (CSC), located nationwide, or via the PM KISAN website. Once the farmer is registered, their application is sent for verification, and after due verification, the farmer’s bank account is credited with the first installment.
PM-KISAN Yojana is a crucial initiative taken by the government of India to address the financial and social needs of small farmers across the country. Since its launch, the scheme has been benefiting millions of Indian farmers, significantly increasing their income levels and improving their lives. It is also helping to achieve a more prosperous and sustainable agricultural sector.
