Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) was launched by the Government of India in February 2019. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to small and marginal farmers across the country. The scheme is an important part of the government’s efforts to double farmers’ income by 2022.

Under the scheme, eligible farmers will receive an income support of Rs. 6,000 per year in three equal installments. The first installment is given from April to July, the second from August to November, and the third from December to March. The farmers can use this money to meet their agricultural requirements and to improve their standard of living.

To be eligible for the scheme, the farmer should own cultivable land and have a farmholding of up to 2 hectares. The scheme is expected to benefit around 12 crore small and marginal farmers across the country. The scheme’s objective is to provide direct income support to the farmers, which will help them in meeting their farming and daily expenses.

The scheme is being implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The funds will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode. The scheme is free from any interference of middlemen or commission agents, which ensures timely payment to the farmers.

The scheme has been successful in reducing the farmers’ debt burden and helping them to invest in their farming activities. The scheme has also helped in boosting the rural economy and increasing the purchasing power of farmers. The beneficiaries of the scheme include small farmers, marginal farmers, and landless agricultural laborers.

The government has also taken measures to ensure that farmers who are not eligible for the scheme are brought under the ambit of the scheme. The government is also taking steps to provide financial literacy and credit facilities to farmers, which will help them to make informed investment decisions.

In conclusion, the PM-KISAN scheme is a noble initiative by the Government of India to provide direct income support to small and marginal farmers. The scheme has been successful in reducing the farmers’ debt burden, increasing their purchasing power and boosting the rural economy. The scheme is expected to benefit millions of farmers across the country and is a significant step towards achieving the objective of doubling farmers’ income by 2022.
