Farmer wants to know information about growth of flower and fruit sponge gourd crop

As a farmer, understanding the growth of your crop is essential to its success. In the case of a sponge gourd crop, this rings especially true. A crop with optimal growth patterns produces high-quality flowers and fruits necessary for profitability.

The life cycle of the sponge gourd plant begins with seedling emergence. It takes approximately two weeks for the seeds to germinate and emerge from the soil. Once the seedlings emerge, they require adequate sunlight, moisture, and soil nutrients for growth.

During the first month of growth, the sponge gourd plant will grow robustly. Stems, shoots, and leaves will sprout continuously, and the plant will climb trellises, bamboo poles or fences rapidly.

As the second month of growth begins, the sponge gourd plant will start to flower at the branches’ intersection. While individual flowers are small, they are plentiful, enabling the plant to produce a high yield of sponge gourds.

The flowers will develop into fruits three to four days after pollination by insects or human intervention. They begin as small, oval-shaped with green color but slowly turn yellowish-brown and enlarge as the growth process continues. At around 45 days, the fruits will be fully mature and ready for harvest.

To achieve maximum yield, farmers should ensure that the sponge gourd crop is continually receiving sufficient sunlight, moisture, and soil nutrients during the growth process. The plant grows optimally in fertile, well-drained loamy soil with a pH between 6.0 and 7.5 and adequate irrigation.

In conclusion, the growth of a sponge gourd crop depends heavily on the right conditions and care. Farmers need to ensure that their crops receive enough nutrients, sunlight, and moisture to yield a high-quality product. By following these tips, farmers can achieve optimal growth and profitability, making the most of their sponge gourd crop.
