The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana or PM-KISAN Yojana is an initiative launched by the Indian government in February 2019. The aim of this scheme is to provide financial assistance to farmers across the country. Under this scheme, eligible farmers receive a direct income support of Rs. 6,000 per year in three instalments of Rs. 2,000 each. The scheme is especially beneficial for small and marginal farmers.
The PM-KISAN Yojana has been implemented in all the states and Union Territories of India. The eligibility criteria for the scheme include ownership of cultivable land and the documents to prove it. Farmers who have less than two hectares of cultivable land are eligible to receive the benefits of this scheme.
The application process for the PM-KISAN Yojana is simple and can be done online. Eligible farmers can go to the PM-KISAN official website and fill the application form or visit the nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) to complete the registration process. The CSCs charge Rs.30 per registration, and farmers are required to furnish their Aadhaar card details, bank account details and land documents to complete the registration process.
Once registered, eligible farmers receive the first instalment of Rs. 2,000 in their bank accounts within a few days. The remaining two instalments are released by the government in the subsequent months. The government has also provided a helpline number (155261) and an email address (pmkisan-ict@gov.in) to help farmers with any queries regarding the PM-KISAN Yojana.
In conclusion, the PM-KISAN Yojana is a boon for farmers across the country. The financial assistance provided by the scheme goes a long way in helping small and marginal farmers. It is essential for eligible farmers to register for the scheme and benefit from the financial support provided by the government.
