The Agriculture Production Commissioner Mrs Monika Garg Visited IARI an 8th Jan 2025. She visited the field demonstration of recent varieties of mustard, marigold and vegetables at ICARIndian Agriculture Research Institute, New Delhi.
Dr Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-IARI, New Delhi, welcomed Mrs Monika Garg at his office, and explained about various IARI technologies suitable for UP, and expressed keen interest in working in close collaboration with UP state Agricultural Department for taking IARI technologies to the industries and farmers of UP for the welfare of the farmers. Then Mrs Garg participated in the workshop organized to prepare roadmap to improve the seed delivery system of the UP.
Dr C.Viswanathan JD, IARI and representatives of FPOs, Companies, individual seed entrepreneurs from the state of UP, Haryana and Punjab. Dr Gyanendra Singh, Incharge SPU presented the various IARI varieties that are suitable for the UP state and the process of seed multiplication and dissemination of IARI varietal technologies. Dr Aakriti Sharma, Incharge ZTM & BPD presented the process of licensing and about the startup ecosystem of IARI. The seed entrepreneurs gave the feedback as to how to make the seed system more vibrant. The workshop led to identification of key interventions needed to strengthen the seed system in the state of UP.
