First phase of two days Capacity Building Program on “Technology demonstrations for enhancing resilience” which is scheduled during 24-25, July 2022 was inaugurated today and has been organized by Technology Demonstration Component of NICRA at ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad. The inaugural session was chaired by Dr. S.K. Chaudhari, DDG (NRM), ICAR. Dr. V.K. Singh Director, ICAR-CRIDA, Dr. JVNS Prasad, Project Leader, TDC-NICRA, scientists from ICAR-CRIDA and Directors and Nodal officers from ATARIs of Jodhpur, Kanpur and Patna, and Senior Scientists and Heads of 49 NICRA KVKs, NICRA Co-PIs and SRFs of respective KVKs were present in the session. Dr. JVNS Prasad welcomed the dignitaries and participants and briefed about the objectives of the capacity building programme. Dr. V.K. Singh Director, ICAR-CRIDA in his opening remarks described the farming system typology-based approach instead of previously followed module-based approach, selecting the KVKs based on risk and vulnerability atlas of IPCC, Fifth Assessment Report, collaboration with NMSA and other programmes, need for this capacity building programme for achieving the target of carbon neutral villages. Dr. S.K. Chaudhari, DDG (NRM) in his address stressed the need of discussing each other among the KVKs and share their experiences. He also expressed the technology driven (viz., precision agriculture, drip irrigation, fertigation, conservation agriculture, drones) satisfactory achievements in agriculture and allied sectors of last 15 years. He also described NICRA played a greater role in sensitizing about the climate change from farmers to policy makers. Many state governments are launching climate resilient programmes/schemes based on the experience from NICRA. KVKs and village institutions played a vital role in ground level sensitization. United nations and COP-26 also discussed about the NICRA-TDC. He emphasized the need for collecting scientific data and observations for net carbon balance. Many Natural Resource Management, Crop, livestock, fisheries based interventions were found effective. During Inauguration released one publication. At the end, Dr. TV Prasad, Principal Scientist proposed formal vote of thanks.
