A State-Level Technical Meeting on Vegetable Research was convened on 31st May 2025 at the Main Vegetable Research Station, Anand Agricultural University, Anand. The inaugural session was conducted at the Vice Chancellor’s Conference Hall, University Bhavan, AAU, Anand. Shri K. J. Vekariya, Agriculture Officer, MVRS, formally welcomed all committee members and invited Dr. R. R. Acharya, Research Scientist (Veg.) and Head, MVRS, to extend gratitude to Dr. K. B. Kathiria, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor and Dr. M. K. Jhala, Director of Research and Dean PG Studies and provide a concise overview of the recent research advancements as well as achievements at MVRS. Dr. M. K. Jhala highlighted the significant contributions of Anand Agricultural University in the domain of vegetable crop improvement and expressed appreciation for the dedicated efforts of the scientific staff. Dr. K. B. Kathiria, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor elaborated on the strategic breeding objectives and future prospects pertaining to key vegetable crops such as okra, brinjal, tomato, chilli and various cucurbitaceous species. He also emphasized the importance of inter-institutional germplasm exchange to enhance genetic diversity and collaborative research across universities. Subsequently, the scientists from JAU, Junagadh, NAU, Navsari and SDAU, S. K. Nagar along with AAU, Anand engaged in detailed deliberations regarding the future technical framework for evaluation trials of vegetable crops under various state-level experimental programmes. Dr. C. K. Borad, Associate Research Scientist, Main Vegetable Research Station, AAU, Anand, delivered the formal vote of thanks and officially declared the conclusion of the programme.
