Shri Manikrao Shivajirao Kokate, Minister of Agriculture, Govt of Maharashtra, reviewed the research work carried out by ICAR-National Research Centre for Grapes, Pune, today. The Minister commended the research accomplishments of the institute and contributions to the grape industry of Maharashtra State. He also urged ICAR-NRCG to conduct regular training programmes for capacity building of Maharashtra farmers.

The main discussion points focused on promoting ICAR-NRCG’s technology for protected cultivation, introducing climate-resilient grape varieties to enhance high-quality production, offering subsidies to farmers for adopting and implementing these technologies at the farm level, and intensifying bio-intensive agriculture to reduce pesticide use. Additionally, there was an emphasis on minimizing pesticide residue in grapes to facilitate exports and ensure MRL-compliant grapes for domestic consumers.

Dr Kaushik Banerjee, Director, along with other officials, participated in the interaction meeting.

Shri Kailas Bhosale, President, Maharashtra State Grape Growers’ Association, coordinated the programme.
