Floriculture sector is one of the labour intensive sectors of agriculture with a large number of stakeholders in production, supply chain, value chain and trade. In order to safeguard the health of those involved in the sector and prevent the further spread of COVID-19 disease, ICAR-Directorate of Floricultural Research, Pune has taken the initiative to prepare Floriculture Sector Specific advisory. The advisory is based on the current knowledge emanating from various sources and focuses mainly on prevention as there is no standard protocol for complete eradication of the virus. There are some countries demanding COVID free certificates for exported products including floriculture produce. So far no information exists on persistence of COVID 19 virus on soil surfaces, plant surfaces, biological and food surfaces although information is available for inanimate objects and surfaces. WHO reports indicate that research is going on and till such research outcomes are conclusive it is important that enough precautions need to be taken in floriculture sector from sowing to marketing by all to prevent the spread of the disease. The advisory covers precautions to be taken by floriculture farmers/farm labour/greenhouse growers; labours/workers at farm/market yard/ traders/ retailers; symptoms of COVID 19, Myths and Facts about COVID, Advisories released by Govt. of India from time to time on workplaces, festivals and tobacco consumption. It is important to wear masks, maintain social distance, frequent washing of hands need to be followed by all till suitable cure is found besides following all the guidelines by Government of India including Arogya Setu app. We believe that this advisory would of great help to all those involved in floriculture secto
