A potential incubate, with Ready-to-Cook idea, Visits School of Business Studies and IPR cell under the NIDHI-TBI Initiative.
On May 08, 2025, at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, had the privilege of hosting young potential incubate, Mr. Harkirat Singh. Mr. Singh visited the school as part of the prestigious NIDHI-TBI (National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations – Technology Business Incubator) project, a flagship initiative supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, to get information about patent and trademark registration. His venture revolves around the processing and drying of essential tadka ingredients such as onions, garlic, ginger, turmeric, green chilies, and tomatoes.
During his visit, Mr. Singh interacted with Dr. Khushdeep Singh Dharni, Associate Director technology marketing and IPR cell, who gave valuable insights about patent & trademark registration and process of applying for it. He gave all the possible solutions to the queries of the incubate for sustainable growth and development.
In further interaction with Dr. Ramandeep Singh, Principal Investigator of NIDHI-TBI (DST, GoI) and Director, School of Business Studies, who shared valuable knowledge and emphasised the importance of such initiatives for the growth of the business. Dr. Singh noted that the innovation not only aligns with only monetary flow trends in convenience but also holds great promise in supporting current trends of competitive market demands. Further strengthening entrepreneurial perspectives, Dr. Singh demonstrated some innovative products and prototypes in Agribusiness lab of the school of business studies.
Dr. Poonam A.Sachdev, Co-Principal Investigator, Nidhi-Tbi and Principal Food Technologist, FST applauded the session and assured continuous technical support to the incubates. She added such sessions act as road map for the innovators to excel in the field of agribusinesses.
Further enriching the interaction, Mr. Gurinder Singh, CEO, and Mr. Sameer Gautam, Business Manager at the NIDHI-TBI, offered valuable mentorship on key aspects of business development. They shared insights on effective packaging solutions, marketing strategies, trademarks, label design, and logo development—all crucial components for building a strong brand identity and market presence in the food sector.
The visit served as a motivational and learning experience, not just for Harkirat but also for the academic and incubation community at PAU. It underscored the importance of nurturing young talent, encouraging grassroots innovations, and translating traditional knowledge into modern entrepreneurial ventures.
