Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, has launched a new brochure on mushroom cultivation, designed to empower farmers, entrepreneurs, and consumers with valuable knowledge on sustainable mushroom farming and its benefits. The brochure was released by PAU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, who emphasized the potential of mushrooms to transform agricultural practices while enhancing sustainability, food security, and environmental health.
The brochure highlights the nutritional and market potential of mushrooms and features success stories of innovative growers, processors, and marketers who have integrated mushroom cultivation into their operations with the support of PAU. Dr. Gosal stressed that mushroom farming offers significant opportunities for sustainable agricultural development and is an integral part of PAU’s efforts to provide communities with resources to excel in mushroom production.
The editorial team behind the brochure includes Dr. Ramandeep Singh, Professor-cum-Director of the School of Business Studies, Dr. Gagandeep Kaur Nagra, Scientist (Microbiology) from the Processing and Food Engineering Department, Dr. Navneet Kaur Gill, Teaching Assistant at the School of Business Studies, and Alisha Kaur, a Research Scholar at PAU. Contributors to the project also include Dr. Maria Afzal, Ms. Roohi, Dr. Shivani Sharma, Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, and Mr. Gurinder Singh, whose expertise enriched the publication.
Dr. Ramandeep Singh remarked that this resource serves as a cornerstone for the farming community, offering practical guidance and inspiration through success stories.
