A farmer training camp was organized by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kheri, Sangrur of Punjab Agricultural University under the Stubble Management Project 2024-25 at village Ramgarh of Block Andana. In which more than 30 farmers of the village participated.

Associate Director (Training) of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sangrur Dr. Mandeep Singh said that the main objective of this camp was to provide information to the farmers about comprehensive fertilizer management in wheat and other Rabi crops and maintenance of agricultural machinery.

Giving information during the camp, Dr. Mandeep Singh explained to the farmers in detail about the proper use of fertilizers in wheat. He also made the farmers aware about the disadvantages of applying more fertilizer than the requirement of the crop and asked them to avoid unnecessary use of fertilizers. He also explained to the farmers the symptoms of deficiency of micronutrients such as manganese, zinc, sulfur and nitrogen in wheat and the methods of their proper supplementation. He said that in case of deficiency of manganese in wheat, 1 kg of manganese sulphate should be dissolved in 200 liters of water and sprayed using a round nozzle on a sunny day. He said that manganese sulphate should never be applied to the crop by spraying. Apart from this, he also informed the farmers about the activities and training courses of Krishi Vigyan Kendra. He also motivated the farmers to adopt auxiliary businesses to increase their income.

Dr. Sunil Kumar, Assistant Professor, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sangrur gave complete information about the care and maintenance of agricultural machinery after its use. He also informed the farmers about the mulching method and smart seeder machine for managing paddy stubble in the field.

During the camp, the questions asked by the farmers about the attack of pink stem borer and prevention of gullidande in wheat were answered.

Finally, the wheat fields were surveyed and suggestions were given to the farmers as per the occasion.
