Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Punjab Agricultural University, Kheri, Sangrur organized a farmer-scientist meet at village Diwangarh Camper to discuss the proper management of rabi crops. In which about 30 farmers participated.

During this program, Dr. Rukinder Preet Singh gave detailed information about the proper management of nutrients and weeds in wheat and mustard crops. He also gave information about the balanced use of fertilizers and the selection of the right herbicides for timely control of weeds as well as the correct method of spraying.

Dr. Mandeep Singh, Associate Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sangrur gave information about the various reasons for yellowing of leaves in wheat crop. He said that it is very important to adopt comprehensive nutrients and comprehensive pest management to reduce farming costs and to conserve soil and environment. They also asked the farmers to avoid unnecessary fertilizers and sprays.

During this meeting, the farmers asked many questions about weeds like gullidande, wild spinach, boin, etc. and manganese deficiency. The experts gave appropriate suggestions. Finally, the team of experts visited the wheat fields and mustard demonstration plots sown in paddy straw and gave necessary suggestions to the farmers on the spot.
