A 10-day vocational training program on dairy farming was successfully conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Punjab Agricultural University, Sangrur from December 13 to 23, 2024. In which 28 trainees participated.
Dr. Mandeep Singh, Associate Director (Training) KVK, Sangrur, while inaugurating the training program, warmly welcomed the participating farmers and informed them about the various training courses conducted by KVK. He motivated the trainees to increase their family income by adopting dairy farming according to scientific lines. Apart from this, he also informed the trainees about keeping accounts of the dairy business.
Training course coordinator Dr. Ajay Singh, Assistant Professor (Animal Science), KVK, Mansa, shed light on the essential aspects of dairy farming such as importance of dairy farming, breed and slaughter, proper selection of animals, innovative shed management for animal maintenance, balanced diet, importance of metal scraps, bypass fat and UMMB bricks, breeding management of buffaloes and cows and economics of dairy farming etc.
Dr. Mukesh Gupta, Veterinary Officer, Animal Husbandry Department, Sangrur also addressed the trainees and gave valuable information on prevention and control of diseases in dairy animals.
Dr. Rukinder Preet Singh Dhaliwal, Assistant Professor (Crop Science) shared information on production of green fodder and preparation of silage throughout the year.
Dr. Vitasta, Assistant Professor (Home Science) informed the students about earning more income from dairy farming by making different types of products from milk.
Mr. Rupahil Sikka, DCO and Credit Manager, Lead Bank, Sangrur shared information about various subsidy schemes and loans being run by the bank regarding dairy farming with the students.
The questions asked by the students during various sessions were answered satisfactorily.
Books on dairy farming were also provided to all the students.
