The Fisheries College, Karmen University, Navsari, under the scheme ‘Establishment of Demonstration cum Training Centre in Inland Fisheries at Navsari’, organized a one day skill development training ‘Fish value addition through making of shrimp pickles and fish tikkis’ for the farmers and brothers associated with the Krini Navgyan Kendra, Navsari who are interested in learning fish, shrimp pickles and new fish recipes. The training was organized by the Principal, Dr. S. R. Under the guidance of Dr. P. P. Patel, Assistant Professor and Head of Department (F. P. T.) and Prof. Anarudhan Parmar, Assistant Professor, the training was organized by the department. About 30 rural youth brothers and sisters participated in the training. Dr. Kunjal Shah, Senior Scientist and Head, Krini Navgyan Kendra, Navsari, dedicated himself completely to the training of the trainees and encouraged them to learn year by year in a way that develops their skills with great attention, understanding the areas and usefulness of the training. Dr. P. P. Patel, a professor of fish, gave the trainees the necessary guidance for the development of industrial skills through the development of fish-based ingredients and dishes prepared from them and marketing. In the course, Dr. Patel said that the developed skills go from generation to generation and generation plays a major role in the development of employment and industry. And it brings employment opportunities for the youth. The skill training Dr. Patel and Dr. Parmar showed the trainees the steps of making fish tikki from shrimp pickle and sea bass fish by making the dishes live in front of the trainees. Finally, all the trainees tested the prepared dishes and expressed their satisfaction with the knowledge and skills gained through the training and expressed their desire to receive training in the skills of making new dishes in the future.
