One Day National Level Awareness cum Training on “Scientific Methods of Integrated Fish Farming” was organized by ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai on 03-02-2025 at Moirambhitha Shuba, Puthimari Village, Bajali, Assam in association with Department of Fishery, Bajali, Assam. 300 SC farmers and fishermen from the village including women rural farmers participated in the program. The program was conducted under the SCSP program of ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai in order to empower the rural SC farmers of the Northeast region. Various distinguished dignitaries including Assam Gaurav Mr. Debajit Barman, DFDO Bajali, DFDO, Barpeta, DFDO Kokrajar, KVK Program Co-Ordinator, Howli, Gram Pradhan of Puthimari village, Retd. Principal the locality and several FDO from the Department of Fishery, Govt. of Assam participated and graced the program. The program was also briefed to the Hon’ble Minister of Fisheries, Govt. of Assam Shri Krishnendu Pal who has appreciated the awareness initiatives taken by ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai and the Department of Fishery, Bajali, Assam to provide scientific knowledge of fish farming to the rural farmers of Bajali, Assam. A handbook in Assamese was also published and released on the occasion for the benefit of multiple stakeholders. A quiz competition was also organized among the villagers to boost the interest on the subject in local vernacular language on the subject of fisheries.
