The National Symposium on ‘Integrating Genomics in Plant Pathology: New Frontiers in Disease Management,’ hosted by the Indian Phytopathological Society, Delhi Zone, in collaboration with the Division of Plant Pathology at ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, took place on 15th-16th January 2025. The event saw strong participation with 133 registered attendees, including representatives from various industries. The symposium featured 24 invited lectures, 40 poster presentations, and three engaging technical sessions, offering valuable insights into the role of genomics in advancing disease management strategies.

Dr J. K. Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries), ICAR; Dr S. K. Singh, Deputy Director General (Horticulture), ICAR; and Dr Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-IARI, graced the occasion.

The academia-industry interaction offered students valuable insights into potential collaborations for sustainable disease management solutions. Overall, the symposium successfully integrated cutting-edge genomic knowledge with practical plant pathology solutions.

The recommendations highlights the need to integrate genomics with traditional plant pathology for improved disease management, strengthen academia-industry collaborations to apply genomic and microbiome research, and offer more student opportunities in genomic research.
