ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region (ICAR-RCER), Patna, organized a one day training program under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) on Efficient Soil and Water Management Techniques for Crop Production on 5/12/2024. The event aimed to promote sustainable farming practices by educating participants on advanced soil and water management methods.
During this event, approximately 18 farmers from Dulhin Bazar participated, along with students and scientific staff from the institute. Participants gained valuable insights into maintaining soil health and improving water use efficiency. These resources aimed to promote sustainable farming practices by enabling farmers to make informed decisions about soil health and nutrient management. Experts from various divisions conducted interactive sessions, focusing on practical strategies to enhance crop productivity while preserving natural resources. Dr. Anup Das, Director of ICAR-RCER, inaugurated the program, highlighting the importance of sustainable soil and water management in ensuring long-term agricultural success. He stressed the need for regular soil testing and conservation practices to maintain soil fertility and optimize resource use. Dr. Ashutosh Upadhyaya, Head, Division of Land and Water Management, delivered a lecture focusing on effective methods to manage soil and water resources. Topics covered included integrated nutrient management, balanced fertilization, On-farm water management and climate-resilient practices etc. The event provided a platform for farmers to interact with experts, discuss challenges, and explore solutions for sustainable crop production. The session was ended with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Arti Kumari, Scientist at ICAR-RCER. The program wrapped up with engaging farm visits that highlighted ongoing research efforts, promoting the practical application of the knowledge shared during the event. The event was successfully coordinated by Dr. Prem Kumar Sundaram, Dr. Pawan Jeet, and Dr. Arti Kumari.
