Brainstorming workshop on Carbon credits for small-holder farms: Approaches and framework for implementation was organized Division of Environmental Sciences, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi on 28th April,2025 to derive the Roadmap for Carbon Credits to Small Holder farmers. Dr Ch Srinivasa Rao, Director ICAR-IARI has emphasized on the importance of developing robust methods for carbon credit monitoring and reporting. He emphasized on identification of technological baskets as well as landscape level interventions suitable for earning carbon credits top farming community in addition to life cycle assessment of agroforestry. Speaking on the occasion, Dr RN Padaria, Join Director (Extn) has emphasized on stakeholder mobilization and development of model farms for net-zero emissions. Earlier Dr Soora Naresh Kumar, Head Environmental Sciences Division gave the outline of roadmap for carbon credits for small holder farms with an emphasis on creation of mechanisms and local project monitoring units for benefit sharing, trustworthy methodologies for carbon credits. During the brainstorming session, discussions were held on opportunities for carbon credits from soil, crop and water management, biochar, horticulture and agroforestry as well as experiences from the ongoing carbon credit projects. The Brainstorming session was attended by about 25 scientists including Dr S. Bramhanand, Project Director, Water Technology Centre, Dr Tomar, Dr D Mondal, Dr SS Rathore among others.
