In a landmark step towards streamlining and digitizing ICAR-CIFE’s training and capacitybuilding activities across India, ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE), Mumbai, launched its cutting-edge CIFE Aqua-Skill Hub (CASH) Portal on 17th April 2025. The portal was officially inaugurated by the Hon’ble Director, ICAR-CIFE, Dr. Ravishankar C. N., in the gracious presence of Dr. N. P. Sahu, Joint Director, and a distinguished gathering of scientists, faculty members, and training coordinators of the institute on 17.4.2025. Developed as a one-stop, paperless digital platform, the CASH portal aims to revolutionize the way training and capacity-building activities are conducted, monitored, and accessed at ICAR-CIFE. It offers end-to-end solutions from training proposal submission to bilingual certificate generation and provides real-time data and analytics for stakeholders across NEH, TSP, SCSP, and HRD programs. Speaking at the launch event, Dr. Ravishankar C. N. lauded the efforts of the Training and Capacity Building Cell in conceptualizing and implementing this forward-looking initiative. He emphasized that “the CASH Portal is a significant stride towards ICAR-CIFE’s commitment to digital inclusion, transparency, and stakeholder empowerment in fisheries education.” Dr. N. P. Sahu, in his address, highlighted the portal’s features such as trainee access to learning materials, certificate downloads, detailed financial reporting, and customizable data analytics based on gender, geography, and trainee type. He noted that such initiatives would “ensure better outreach, improve impact assessment, and foster innovation in training methodologies.” The event was well-attended by scientists and staff members who applauded this milestone initiative. The portal is currently available in English and will soon be made multilingual to enhance accessibility across India. In the coming years, the CASH portal is envisioned to serve as a national platform for fisheries and aquaculture training, connecting stakeholders, institutions, and learners from across the country. The launch of the CASH portal is a testament to ICAR-CIFE’s continued leadership in advancing fisheries education and its unwavering dedication to skill development for sustainable aquaculture and fisher welfare.
