08th January, 2025 ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA), Bhubaneswar, organized a one-day Awareness-cum-Training Programme on Scientific Aquaculture under the SCSP project on December 08th, 2025, at Subarnapur village in the Gop block of Puri district, Odisha. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from nearly 110 beneficiaries, including around 80 women farmers and 30 male farmers, underscoring the vital role of women in aquaculture and associated community activities. The ICAR-CIFA scientific team, led by Dr. G. S. Saha, Mr. Sovan Sahoo, and Mr. Durga Prasad Rath, interacted with the farmers to address their challenges and introduced them to advanced technologies developed by the institute in aquaculture. Dr. G. S. Saha discussed about marketing strategies to enhance income from fisheries and encouraged farmers to explore ornamental fish culture and aquarium businesses as additional income sources. He also  highlighted common fish diseases, such as Argulus infections and shared effective solutions for managing them. Mr. Sahoo emphasized adopting fish-based integrated farming systems and various aspects of Prawn culture. Mr. Lingaraj Pradhan, a successful fish farmer shared his valuable experiences regarding fish farming.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Mr. Durga prasad Rath, , who expressed his gratitude to all participants and contributors. The program was widely regarded as a valuable and impactful initiative, offering practical insights and solutions for sustainable aquaculture development.
