ICAR-IIOR has organised a sponsored training programme for the members of FPOs, Farmers and Extension functionaries of Keonjhar district, Odisha during 05-09th May, 2025. Around 27 participants under Crop Diversification Programme in Mega Lift Irrigation Project (CDP-MLIP) area attended the programme. Awareness on improved technologies of oilseeds and millets was created by visits to research farms of ICAR-IIOR at Narkhuda, Rajendranagar, ICRISAT and ICAR-IIMR. Talks were organised on improved technologies of oilseed crops, climate resilient technologies and the importance of crop diversification following a systems approach. Dr. R.K. Mathur, Director ICAR-IIOR interacting with participants had emphasized on the role of FPOs in crop diversification and area expansion of oilseeds. He informed the participants to cultivate oilseeds during rabi season for higher economic returns. Dr. G.D. Satish Kumar, Course Director during the inaugural session had highlighted the potential of growing oilseeds in Odisha and shared the results of the frontline demonstrations conducted in Odisha. Dr. R.D. Prasad, Director In-charge in the concluding remarks has urged the farmers to diversify to oilseed crops for better nutritional security.
