PAU- Kisan Mela was organized on 07th January 2025 at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Fatehgarh Sahib on the related date of Stubble Management. About 600 farmer men and women from different villages participated in this fair.
On this occasion, Hon. Dr. Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director Extension Education, PAU Ludhiana attended as the Chief Guest. Hon. Mr. Dharminderjit Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer attended as the Special Guest. On this occasion, experts from Krishi Vigyan Kendra Fatehgarh Sahib shared information on various topics related to agriculture in the technical session. Dr. Arvind Preet Kaur, Assistant Professor (Horticulture) gave information about the cultivation of vegetables from stubble and nutritious home gardens. Dr. Reet Verma, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection) explained about the right time and method of controlling pink bollworm and soldier bollworm in wheat. Dr. G. P. S. Sethi, Assistant Professor (Animal Husbandry) gave detailed information about the feed prepared from straw for animals and the care of animals. Eng. Karun Sharma gave detailed information about the machines used for the care of straw. Dr. Ajay Kumar and Dr. Harshneet Singh, Assistant Professor (Soil Science) shed light on the proper management of fertilizers and soil testing. Dr. Jagdeep Kaur, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection) gave detailed information about the comprehensive management of diseases in wheat. Dr. Amanpreet Singh, Assistant Professor (Crop Science) made the participants aware about the important points for the proper cultivation of rabi crops. Dr. Manisha Bhatia, Assistant Professor (Home Science) gave information about the preparation of home decorations using straw.
On this occasion, Mr. Mukesh Saini, State Bank of India (Lead Bank) explained the schemes available to the farmers of the bank. Dr. Satwinder Kaur, Fisheries Officer, encouraged the farmers to adopt fish farming as a profession and made them aware about the schemes of the department. Along with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, various departments put up exhibitions in this event. On this occasion, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Fatehgarh Sahib, IFFCO, P. N. B., Fisheries, Soil Conservation Department, Agriculture Department put up an exhibition about the schemes of their departments and the entrepreneurial farmer men and women trained from Krishi Vigyan Kendra exhibited their prepared products. The farmer men who came to this event were very excited to see the crop diversity at Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Farmers of Fatehgarh Sahib district who managed the stubble properly were also honored in this event.
Dr. Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director Extension Education, PAU Ludhiana appealed to the farmers for the proper use of natural resources and also emphasized on the breading and packing of their products so that the right price of the product can be obtained. Dr. Vipan Kumar Rampal, Associate Director, KVK Fatehgarh Sahib thanked all the guests, farmers and women and also motivated the farmers to use water wisely and maintain crop residues properly.
