A village level farmer awareness camp was organized at village Sawai Singhwala in block Bhunnarheri under the guidance of Director Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana and ICAR-Attari, Zone-1 under the Stubble Management Project 2024-25 at village Sawai Singhwala in block Bhunnarheri on proper management of paddy stubble and cultivation of rabi crops.

In which more than 60 farmers participated. Dr. Gurpreet Singh Sidhu, Assistant Professor (Crop Science) discussed in detail with the farmers about various machines like Happy Seeder, Smart Seeder, Surface Seeder, Mulcher, Baler, Seed Drill etc. for efficient management of paddy stubble and also gave information about fertilizer management in wheat sown by managing stubble in different ways and inoculation of biofertilizers to wheat seeds. He explained about the importance of water quantity and correct selection of nozzle while weed management in wheat.

Dr. Rajni Goyal, Professor (Food Science) emphasized on the importance of using home-grown products and emphasized on adopting the cultivation of oilseed crops, pulses and fruits along with wheat. She shared detailed information on the processing and packaging of oilseed crops, pulses, turmeric, sugarcane and fruits. She explained the adverse effects of harmful chemical residues in food items on human health and motivated the students to use the right amount of chemicals recommended by the Agricultural University at the right time.

S. Jagir Singh, a progressive farmer who has not burnt paddy stubble for a decade, shared his experiences on stubble management.

S. Ajit Singh, former Chairman, Market Committee, Malkit Singh, Bhajan Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Karamjit Singh and Jatinder Singh were also present on the occasion.

Finally, Dr. Rajni Goyal thanked all the farmers and guests who came to the camp.
